Iron-On Transfers for Running Vests

An iron-on transfer for a running vest is a lightweight, heat-applied print used to add your name, club logo, or charity branding to polyester technical vests and cotton race shirts. Runners use them for marathon crowd support, parkrun visibility, charity race identification, and club kit personalisation. DTF Owl prints your text or design as a flexible, sweat-resistant transfer that survives 50+ washes. No minimum order, from £1.99 per transfer.

What Runners Print

Name on front

The most popular option. Your first name in large, bold text across the chest of your vest. Spectators read it and shout your name as you pass.

Charity branding

Charity name and logo on the front or back. Raises awareness as you run and shows spectators who you are running for. Many charities provide logo files you can upload directly.

Club logos

Running club crests and names for training and club races. Order one at a time as new members join - no bulk minimum like traditional club kit suppliers require.

Parkrun milestones

Celebrate 50, 100, or 250 parkruns with a custom milestone design on your Saturday morning vest. More personal than a standard milestone t-shirt.

Memorial runs

Print a photo, name, or message in memory of someone. Common for charity runs, memorial events, and anniversary races.

Race day slogans

Motivational quotes, pace targets, or humorous messages on the back of your vest. A popular option for marathon and half-marathon runners.

Running Vest FAQs

Can I iron a name onto a running vest?

Yes. Adding your name to a running vest is one of the most popular uses for iron-on transfers. Crowd support is proven to boost performance - when spectators can see your name, they shout encouragement directly at you. A simple name in large, bold letters on the front of your vest is all you need.

Will the transfer survive sweat and rain?

Yes. DTF transfers are waterproof once applied. Sweat, rain, and sports drinks will not cause the transfer to peel, run, or fade during a race. The adhesive is fully cured during pressing and is not water-soluble.

What temperature for polyester running vests?

Most running vests are polyester or polyester blend. Use 145-150°C and press for 8-10 seconds. Do not exceed 155°C. Polyester vests are thin, so light to medium pressure is enough. Place a board or folded towel inside the vest to create a flat surface.

How big should my name be on a running vest?

For race day visibility, make your name 5-8cm tall and use a bold, sans-serif font. This is readable from 10-15 metres away, which is far enough for spectators lining the route. White or bright yellow text on a dark vest, or black/navy text on a light vest, gives the best contrast.

Can I add a charity logo to my running top?

Yes. Many charity runners add the charity name and logo alongside their own name. You can fit both on the front of a vest, or put your name on the front and the charity logo on the back. Upload the charity logo as a high-resolution PNG for the best print quality.

Is this lighter than a printed running shirt?

DTF transfers add less than 1 gram of weight per transfer. On a technical running vest, you will not notice any difference in weight, breathability, or comfort. The transfer is thinner than a postage stamp and flexes with the fabric as you move.
