Hoodies are thicker than t-shirts, so application technique matters. Follow these settings for the best results.

Important for hoodies: Place a folded towel or pressing pillow inside the hoodie to create a firm, flat surface. This prevents the front and back panels from bonding together and gives you even pressure across the print area.
After pressing, let the transfer cool for 30 seconds before peeling the film. Re-press through parchment paper for 5 seconds to seal the edges. This second press is especially important on hoodies because the thicker fabric can cause edges to lift.

Hoodie Transfer FAQs
Can you iron transfers onto hoodies?
Yes. Our DTF iron-on transfers bond to cotton, polyester, and blended hoodies that can tolerate application heat. The process is the same as any other garment - position the transfer, cover with parchment paper, and press at 150°C for 10-15 seconds. Hoodies with a brushed fleece interior may need slightly more pressure and time (12-15 seconds) to ensure the adhesive penetrates the thicker fabric.
What temperature should I use for hoodie transfers?
Set your iron or heat press to 150°C. For polyester hoodies, stay at 150°C and do not exceed 160°C to avoid scorching. For cotton hoodies, 150-160°C is fine. Always test on an inside seam or hood lining first if you are unsure about the fabric composition.
Will the transfer crack on a hoodie?
No. Our DTF transfers are flexible and move with the fabric. Unlike screen prints that can crack on stretchy materials, DTF transfers are designed to flex. They last 50+ washes without cracking, peeling, or fading when applied correctly and washed inside-out at 30°C.
Where should I position the transfer on a hoodie?
The most common positions are centre chest (typically 20-25cm wide), left chest (8-12cm wide for logos), and centre back (25-30cm wide for large designs). On hoodies with a front pocket, you can print above the pocket or on the back. Measure and mark your position with tape before pressing.
Can I print on the hood itself?
It is possible but tricky. The hood has a curved shape and a seam down the centre, making even pressure difficult with a household iron. If you want to print on the hood, a heat press with a curved platen works best. For home application, the front and back panels give the best results.
